Soo Sakai was born and lives in Brazil.
Raised closer to nature than to the city, Soo now lives surrounded by concrete — a landscape once longed for, and now quietly questioned, as the absence of the natural world makes itself felt. With a degree in graphic design, her path has unfolded beyond its original direction. Motherhood came soon after graduation, followed by the experience of becoming a single mother — a journey that deeply shapes both her life and artistic voice.

Over the years, her practice has expanded across different forms: a small business, hands-on parenting and education during the pandemic, and work in tattooing, ceramics, embroidery, and painting. Recently, she completed her first book and is now seeking its publication. Illustration — especially for children’s books — has long been a central calling. In this field, she finds a meaningful intersection between image, emotion, and storytelling, where art can gently resonate and create lasting connections. Her son remains a constant source of inspiration.

After years of postponement shaped by the fear of failure, her work now moves forward with clarity and intention, in search of opportunities for publication and collaboration.

Nascida no Brasil, em São Paulo, e criada mais próxima da natureza do que da cidade, Soo vive hoje cercada pelo concreto — uma paisagem que um dia desejou e que agora observa com questionamento silencioso, enquanto sente a falta do mundo natural. Graduada em design gráfico, sua trajetória se desdobrou para além do caminho inicial. A maternidade veio logo após a graduação, seguida pela experiência de se tornar mãe solo — uma vivência que molda profundamente tanto sua vida quanto sua expressão artística.

Ao longo dos anos, sua prática se expandiu por diferentes formas: um pequeno negócio, o cuidado e a educação do filho durante a pandemia, e trabalhos com tatuagem, cerâmica, bordado e pintura. Recentemente, concluiu seu primeiro livro e agora busca sua publicação. A ilustração — especialmente voltada aos livros infantis — sempre foi um chamado central. Nesse campo, encontra uma interseção significativa entre imagem, emoção e narrativa, onde a arte pode tocar de forma sutil e criar conexões duradouras. Seu filho permanece como uma fonte constante de inspiração.

Após anos de adiamento marcados pelo medo de falhar, seu trabalho segue agora com mais clareza e intenção, em busca de oportunidades de publicação e colaboração.
